A Visa Electron Debit Card provides for on-line electronic payment from your savings / current accounts for purchases and access to ATMs for cash withdrawals and enquiries. It can be used both as an ATM card and as a method of payment (instead of cash / cheques) when purchasing goods and services.
What do I have to do when I receive my card?
Your card needs to be activated at the branch in order to be ready to use it. Remember to sign on the back of the card at the signature panel.
How does the NBG Visa Electron Card work?
As for Purchases, just present your card to the merchant/ shop who will swipe it through the electronic terminal and enter the amount of your purchase. You only need to sign the transaction slip. Your account will be instantly debited for the amount of your purchase.
As for cash withdrawal and other services at the ATM, you will need to enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) in order to use the ATM services.
For how long is my NBG Visa Electron Card valid?
It is valid for three years.
How do I know where my NBG visa electron card can be used and/or accepted?
Your Debit Card can be used at any merchant location displaying the Visa/Visa Electron logo and at any ATM displaying the Visa/PLUS logo. Besides that, you can always use it at any of the NBG Bank ATMs
Are there any transaction limits for NBG Visa Electron Card?
The daily limit for purchases is 100% of your balance and for ATM cash withdrawal is up to EGP 10,000.
Can I use my card abroad?
The card can be used inside Egypt and internationally, at any merchant location displaying the Visa/Visa Electron logo and at any ATM displaying the Visa/PLUS logo.
How can I track the usage of my card?
You will receive a monthly statement with all the details of your balance cash withdrawals and purchases, including merchant name, location, date and amount, so it's easy to see where your money.
Can I have a supplementary card linked to my NBG Visa electron card?
You can apply for up to 3 supplementary cards to be issued and linked to your primary card.
What should I do if my Debit Card is lost/damaged/stolen?
If your card is lost/stolen, immediately call 16272. Once the call is confirmed, a replacement card will be issued and sent to your branch within 5 working days. For your safety, you must confirm in writing within 24 hours, your lost/stolen card at your branch.
